Vinh Hy Binh Tien Scenic Coast Road In Cam Rahn, Vietnam

The Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass in Vietnam is up there with one of the most scenic coastal roads I have ever journeyed on!

Around every hairpin corner, there are glistening white sand beaches and turquoise waters, not to mention they are all absolutely deserted.

I have put together this complete guide to Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass including how to get there and what to expect!

WHERE IS THE VIN HY BINH TIEN SCENIC COAST ROAD

Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass is located 30 minutes south of Cam Ranh, a small bayside town on the East coast of Vietnam. Cam Ranh has very little tourist infrastructure although, for those travelers who love off-the-beaten-path adventures, Cam Ranh is where you will find exactly that.

Most travelers skip out on Cam Ranh and head north to the big smoke of Nha Trang, a much more popular tourist destination along the coastline. This is a mistake because Cam Ranh is worth checking out for a day or two!

HOW TO GET TO CAM RANH

Domestic flights operate daily in and out of Cam Ranh from Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh. I took a 4o-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh to Cam Ranh Airport which cost me around $40.

Alternatively, from Ho Chi Minh City you can take a 7-hour train which costs 360,000 dong or you can take a 9-hour bus which costs 200,000 dong.

GETTING AROUND CAM RANH

To explore the Vinh Hy Bien Tien scenic coastal road you will need to rent yourself a motorbike in Cam Ranh. I was able to rent a motorbike from the owner of the hotel for $5 per day.

I recommend asking at your accommodation to rent a motorbike and I am certain they will be able to help organize this for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT VINH HY BINH TIEN PASS

The Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass is a 17 km snaking road that starts at Bien Tien beach and ends in the small fishing village of Vinh Hy. Prepare to be in striking awe along every single inch of this unbelievably scenic coastal drive.

There is little to no traffic along the way and several viewpoints to pull off to the side of the road and snap some photos. It is honestly hard to take a bad photo here, the impeccable beaches and lush mountainous forests of Nui Chua National Park will have you pinching yourself as if you are dreaming!

Approximately halfway along the Vinh Hy Bien Tien Pass, you will see Binh Hung, a small island inhabited by the local fisherman that lives in the village. Rarely do tourists head over to the island from the wharf, but the option is there to jump on a boat and head over to one of the floating restaurants above the water for a fresh seafood lunch.

The official end of the Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass is in the village of Vin Hy. Take the last stretch of road down to the village and head to the port to see local fishing boats and a number of eateries serving up the freshest catch of the day.

This entire coastline, in my opinion, has a very similar landscape to the Greek Islands. It’s easy to navigate the Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass and it would be rude not to stop at every beach for a swim and some exploring.

WHERE TO STAY IN CAM RANH

There are a number of affordable places to stay in Cam Ranh and it is only a 20-minute taxi ride that costs $5 from the airport to the center of town.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

The best time to visit is in the dry season which is February - September. Be sure to wear plenty of sunblock and pack enough drinking water for the day as it can get squelching hot.

There are no gas stations or roadside petrol stores along the Vinh Hy Binh Tien Pass to refill, so make sure to have a full tank of fuel in your motorbike before leaving Cam Ranh.

There is very little English spoken in these parts of Vietnam, so if you have access to a translator on your smartphone this will be your best friend when needed.
